Pro Org Partnership Agreement

The following four organisations have entered into a partnership agreement with WORLD RIICHI PROFESSIONAL MAHJONG (WRPM), the professional player branch of World Riichi Championship, with the aim of promoting and developing Japanese riichi mahjong internationally:

Through this partnership, WR Pros who are internationally certified professional players recognised by WRPM under standards established by WRPM will now have opportunities to participate in domestic Japanese title tournaments organised by the four organisations.

It is hoped that this will encourage active exchange with players around the world and help riichi mahjong continue to develop competitively across many countries.

All five organisations anticipate that the activities of WR Pros will contribute to the global growth of riichi mahjong.

Please note that participation in league competitions and women’s leagues organised by the professional organisations is limited to one organisation per calendar year. Participation in multiple organisations’ leagues in the same year is not permitted.

WR Pro qualification may not be used by players whose primary professional activities are based in Japan. In such cases, players must obtain membership in a Japanese professional organisation.

The official announcement regarding this partnership is scheduled to take place in New York on 30th June 2026.

Since last year, the Japan Professional Mahjong League, the Nihon Pro Mahjong Association, and Mahjong Union had already begun allowing WR Pros to participate in title events in practice. With RMU now also agreeing to participate, this partnership is being formally announced domestically.

It has also been decided that participation by WR Pros will be accepted in the Saikyousen Professional Qualifiers and the MONDO Pro League.
