Background
My grandmother taught me the basics when I was seven years old, then I played it a lot in our PC Engine (an old videogame). Back then, my only strategy was to get to Tenpai and Riichi right away. I only got a real understanding of the game after learning strategy from some websites/blogs, and then from books by professionals.
