Background
I started playing mahjong due to watching the anime "Saki" & started playing locally. I participated in first major USA tournament (that I know of - 2015 NYC), and have been heavily involved in the riichi community in the US since, either as part of the ARA board (now formerly), or founding the American Riichi Mahjong League (ARML) to help continue raising the floor for USA talent. I have travelled the world to play in tournaments: UK, Netherlands, France, Australia, and especially Japan (numerous times) to also play mahjong in well-known places and have met many professionals.
